So I’ve decided to run a marathon! The 2012 ING New York City Marathon to be specific. 26.2 miles through all 5 boroughs. It won’t be easy getting there but I know the experience and crossing the finish line will be well worth the hard work. A life with Diabetes has created plenty of challenges, lots of planning and constantly being in check with my body – so this should be a piece of cake. Ok not so much.
But there are so many stories out there that are inspiring, if they can do it than I surely can. And I want to pass that on to others. I’ve had the benefit of being educated and aware of health & wellness from a young age. Not everyone is so lucky.
Which is why I chose to run with Team for Kids: to support their efforts in empowering youth development via running and character-building programs in low-income schools and community centers in New York City, throughout the country, and in South Africa as well as tackling the prevlanet issue of childhood obseity.
Empowerment. To me this is what it’s all about.
What empowered you to make strong decisions in your life? For these kids this could be the start.
So this is where I ask for you to help me make an impact by donating to my Team for Kids page (here). In doing so, you will be supporting the New York Road Runners Youth Programs which reaches 85,000+ children in more than 400 schools and community centers with FREE programs, providing both the confidence to make positive decision and the awareness to make the healthiest.
If you have any questions or would like more information, please don’t hesistate to email me – I would be happy to share & further show my passion behind this cause.
Look forward to sharing this advenutre with you!
